Why Alaska? The people in Alaska are in desperate need of the saving power of Jesus Christ. The majority of Alaska is sprinkled with isolated villages where many are in despair and suicide rates are the highest in the country. The power of the Gospel alone can bring freedom to traditional animists and tough individualists who are resistant to traditional religion. SEND International is starting churches in more than 20 countries and has been in Alaska for over 70 years. They use church planting missionaries, the Alaska Bible College, Cross Road Medical Center, and radio broadcasting to reach the lost. SENDs Northern Light Network uses KCAM and KRSA to beam the Gospel into hard to reach places.God is expanding SENDs outreach in Alaska. Forty new missionaries arrived in Alaska during the past five years and twenty three more are currently raising support. SEND has church planting teams in five villages and their sights are set on a hundred more villages that do not have a Gospel witness. Broadcasting the GospelLou and Andrea are eager to start their first term in Petersburg, Alaska assigned to KRSA radio. Because of Lous sales experience, he will be working to expand KRSAs advertising base both within and outside the listening area. Andreas job will be office administration and bookkeeping for the radio station. Supporting the missionaries in this way will take some of the burden off so they can do what they need to do. God has given KRSA a unique platform in Southeast Alaska. Throughout this temperate rainforest people tune into KRSA for news, entertainment, and solid Bible teaching. Believers are discipled and non-believers are confronted with the truth about Jesus. The Northern Light Network is making plans to expand their broadcasts into even more remote areas of Alaska. It will be a cooperative effort with SENDs church planting missionaries in remote villages. Lou and Andrea will join the existing staff to make this transition possible. Battle for the Lost
